Laurentian — Approx. 500 sds/pkt. This is the ever-popular rutabaga of holiday feasts. Some communities in Canada refer to this rutabaga as “turnip.” The exposed top of the root takes on a distinctive purple hue while the flesh varies from cream-coloured to a warm golden yellow.


Often referred to as “Swede”, they are hardier, heavier yielding and take longer to grow than summer types. The quality and fl avour is improved by a hard fall frost. Wax with paraffi n to extend the winter storage and keep it in a cool location.
