Big Bluestem is a native grass and was once a dominant feature on the North American prairie, and is sometimes referred to as “Monarch of the Prairie”. This selection forms a tall, upright clump of narrow, green foliage with red tips. Foliage turns burgundy to scarlet by fall. Fall seed heads are ‘turkey-foot’ shaped and also in shades of red. Excellent planted in mixed-perennial, fall-blooming borders, where a height is desired. This native ornamental grass is tough like the species. Introduced by Intrinsic Perennial Gardens, Inc., USPP#26283: unlicensed propagation prohibited.

Height: 60– 120cm (23-47") | Spread: 60 – 90cm (23-35") | Exposure: Full sun
