Also known as Alkanet, this historical perennial is a favourite of bees and butterflies. Plants form upright stems of coarse and hairy light-green leaves. Short sprays of rich royal-blue bell-shaped flowers appear during late spring and early summer. Regular deadheading should encourage more buds to be produced. Best in full sun, this prefers a cool summer climate. Although short-lived generally, plants often self-sow and continue to come back for many years. This particular selection is fairly tall and will probably require staking or some other support. Good deer resistance.
