Ostrich Fern

This selection is extremely hardy and is reported to grow up to 50% larger than its native parent, reaching up to 180cm (6 feet or more) in ideal conditions. Plants form a large, upright clump of big green fronds, creating a tropical look and combining beautifully with Toad-Lilies and Hosta. Requires moist, rich soil that receives constant moisture. Edible fiddleheads, but caution, cook thoroughly before consuming (in moderation). Easy and carefree. Also thrives in hot, humid southern regions where most Ostrich Ferns would not. Brown fronds appear in fall, persisting through the winter and can be spray-painted, adding an interesting touch to floral arrangements. Deciduous.
