Caveman's Club — Approx. 10-11 sds/pkt. Named for its unique, large, club-shaped gourd. The fruit dries to a woody colour and texture, typically reaching 45 cm in length but can be up to 1 m in areas with long growing seasons. Grows 15-30 cm in height. Best results are achieved from directly sowing into a sunny, warm, well-drained garden in June. For cleaner fruit, vines can be trained to grow on a trellis.
Ornamental Birdhouse/Bottle — Approx. 10-11 sds/pkt. Lagenaria are hard-shelled useful gourds. They grow much like squash and cucumbers. Directly sowing seeds into warm, well-drained soil is best where the growing season is at least 100 days long. Seeds do not germinate well in cool soil. Late sowing usually does better than early sowing. You may want to try growing on a low trellis. Irrigation is essential for the best growth. The ‘Birdhouse’ or ‘Bottle’ gourd blooms at night. For a unique visual treat, we suggest planting them near patios and decks where night-time ambient light will catch the white blooms opening.
Ornamental Mix – Approx 10-11 sds/pkt. A mix of small and large fruits of carrying shapes and colours grow on vines, which can be trained to grow on a trellis or fence. Inedible fruits are dried and used for indoor/outdoor decoration.
